ANNOUNCING A WBCCI REGION 12 VINTAGE AIRSTEAM CLUB EVENT: June 12 - June 18, 2008 Hook up your Airstream and join us next June in the fabulous Lake Tahoe region of the Sierra Nevada mountains. We will circle the wagons at the Tahoe Valley Campground at South Lake Tahoe, CA, which they advertise as “Tahoe’s Finest”. The Park is in a spectacularly scenic area, close to the lake as well as the casinos at Stateline, NV. The gathering is open to all WBCCI members. So pack your camera, good luck charm with cash for the casinos and maybe your shopping shoes or fishing gear. The event begins Thursday, June 12th and will end Sunday morning the 15th. The park is extending our group-discounted rate of $40 for the two days before and after the event, so consider an extended stay. The campground has full hook-ups with cable TV and many features to enjoy. Visit their web site at www.RVontheGo.com for more information. This will be a “stopover Rendezvous” for many of us, in that some will be going on to Bozeman for the International Rally. We have provided dinners at our previous Rendezvous events but we will not be cooking this time. The campground does not have a dinner preparation area or a serving place for a catered dinner. So, dinners will be on our own and who can compete with a casino buffet? Try a casino Mexican buffet dinner and country music show one night with prime rib and comedy show the next. The buffet dinners served at the casinos are outstanding and varied in both price and cuisine. However, none offer group accommodations in mid-June. We will have recommended dinner spots for you and “go early as a group” is what we hear from the casinos. We plan a BYO Tequila Happy Hour for Friday night where we will serve Mexican hors d’oeuvres with set-ups for your favorite Mexican blender drink. If you are interested, please contact Herb Richter at superquake@cox.net or by phone at (760) 439-9849. We hope to see you there. Pat and Herb Richter and Bob StephanEast Coast VAC Rally June 19 - June 23, 2008 The East Coast VAC Rally will be held during the dates of June 19, 2008-June 23, 2008 which is a Thurs-Monday. The rally will be held at the KOA in Staunton, Virginia. Staunton, Virginia is located off I-81 between I-66 & I-64 in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. The KOA offers things for the family with kids and the kids at heart. Nestled within a 1˝ Miles Horse Shoe Bend of Middle River. SVKOA is the only campground in Virginia with a spectacular Waterfall and four 6-person Indoor Hot Tubs. We offer Free Wi-Fi, River Tubing, Wading and Trout and Bass Fishing in the River as well as Trout and Bass Fishing in our Well-Stocked Lake. We have a Huge Pool and a Kiddie Pool, 18 Hole Mini-Golf, Game Room and Two Playgrounds and Nature Trails.Be greeted by our Tame Bunnies, Squirrels, and Ducks on your way to the Pitstop Cafe for a Pizza. Pitch Horseshoes, play sand Volleyball or cool off under the refreshing Waterfall. On summer nights sing Karaoke (Fridays) and dance to our DJ (Saturdays). Here´s how you need to sign up for the rally. You need to call the campground and make your own reservations. Let them know you are with the Airstream group. Since their sites range in size, we ask those of you that have the smaller trailers (16-21 footers) please let them know (we´re trying to save the longer sites for longer trailers). I have on hold 48 sites that have water/elec ($34-37 a night). They have about 12 more sites that have water/elec/sewer ($39-42 a night) that require a credit card to hold them (I was not going to use my personal credit card to hold these). They also have many other sites at the campgound that can be used. Shenandoah Valley KOA I have the 48 campsites are on hold until 30 days before the rally, at that time, ALL campsites are released to the general public. The other campsites (water/elec/sewer) can be held by anyone and anytime (general public) by using a credit card. Again, I do not have these on hold. My thought is this, in an attempt to please everyone: Sign up for the rally is open to only WBCCI members until March 1, 2008. On March 1, 2008 the rally is open to ALL Airstream owners. I do want to make a (personal) offer to all non-WBCCI owners out their that have a vintage Airstream trailer (25 yrs or older) that would like to attend. If you have a need/want to use the early WBCCI sign-up option, if you sign-up for the WBCCI before March 1, 2008, I will pay the added $20.00 dues to become a member of the VAC for the first year! But, you must attend the rally and must become a WBCCI member prior to March 1, 2008. At the rally, we will fill out the VAC paperwork and send it in with a check from my checkbook! I can´t do anymore than that! I´ll send out an agenda later. VAC has reserved 60 campsites at the Bozeman KOA for Thursday night, June 26, 2008. The cost for a KOA site will be $47. All sites will have at least water and electricity and some will get sewer hookup also (first come-first served). Wireless internet, clean restrooms and a dump station are available also. Water features abound, with two mountain streams winding through the campground. Enjoy a dip in the newly built swimming pool and hot tub. Let the kids cool off in the splash park. Right next door, enjoy a comforting soak in the Bozeman Hot Springs. Its nine pools vary in warmth up to a joint-soothing 106 degrees. We also plan on having an introductory VAC Happy Hour in the late afternoon at this campground. This is in preparation for our parade into the WBCCI rally site the next morning on Friday, June 27th. If you wish to park in the Vintage Airstream Club area at the International Rally, the easiest way to do so is to be part of the parade. If you do not parade in with the Vintage group you may be parked elsewhere on the rally grounds as WBCCI normally does not give you a choice of parking spot. Our vintage parking area will be sized to accommodate the number of trailers that sign up for the parade. The 3 amp and 30 amp International WBCCI Rally Vintage parking will be near each other again this year on the campus of Montana State University. Some of vintage parking may be on grass and some will be on a parking lot. Montana will not allow wash water on the ground so bring your "blue boy". WBCCI will provide us with a wash water disposal tank nearby our parking area. There are few campgrounds in the Bozeman area that were big enough to accommodate the size of our group so we reserved these KOA spots early and will come close to filling this campground for this night. If you wish to participate in the pre-parade night at the KOA, then parade into the International Rally and park in the VAC's vintage area, then fill out the info below and send me a check to cover your reservation. The cutoff date for a reservation at the KOA is April 25, 2008. You will be able to cancel your reservation up to June 15th but KOA will charge a $10 cancellation fee.
